The 40ft standard container is among the top three most used containers worldwide. Through its ISO sizes and CSC certification it is suitable for intermodal transportation, but it can also serve as an excellent storage space. The 40ft container comes in an array of types and style, and most of these have the option of general purpose height (8’6”) or High Cube height (9’6”).
40ft High Cube Shipping Containers
These containers have been converted into open top containers and continue to fulfil the ISO sizes, and come with ISO certification, so they can be used for intermodal transportation.

40ft Double Door Shipping Containers
A normal 40ft high cube container only has double doors at one end of the container. Has double doors on both short sides which facilitates loading and unloading. It provides the additional height of a high cube container.

40ft Fixed End Flat Rack Shipping Containers
The 40ft Flat Rack container with collapsible wall ends is suitable for the transportation of abnormal loads. While the charge might not fit in a standard container, it can still be transported as a container with all the financial benefits. The maximum payload varies from 29200 kg to 39700 kg.

40ft Collapsible End Flat Rack Shipping Container
This container type is almost similar to the 40ft flat rack container with collapsible wall ends, the wall ends can be folded, but in this type the wall ends fold into the floor. A 40ft flush folding container can also be used as a 40ft platform container.

40ft Hard or Soft Open Top Shipping Container
This has the same dimensions as a 40ft standard container, but has a removable roof, made from either hard or soft materials. The lockable roof is the strongest and safest seal for an open top container. These have been converted into open top containers and continue to fulfil the ISO sizes, and come with ISO certification, so they can be used for intermodal transportation.

40ft High cube Pallet Wide Shipping Containers
This is slightly wider than a standard 40ft high cube container and has the advantage that two euro pallets can be loaded side by side, providing more loading space than a container with regular width. Deployment of this type is limited to the short-sea trade.
Advantages: Very large cargo space, Usage limited to short-sea shipping area, & Supplied with CSC certification
